Lilla Polyák was born in 1976 in Győr. She moved to Budapest at the age of 17 and finished high school at the Madách Imre High School. After graduation, she spent a year at the Győr National Theatre, where her voice caught the attention of the audience and she was cast as the Kid in the musical Padlás. He continued his studies at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, where he graduated in 1999 as a student of István Horvai and Gábor Máté. Already during her training at the Vígszínház she got a leading role as Dorothy in the production of The Wizard of Oz.

Immediately after graduation, she had the opportunity to work abroad, playing the role of Baroness Waldstätten in the musical Mozart! at the Theater an der Wien. She then toured with the Abba Tribute and Rockin', and also performed in Vienna in Moby Dick.

She began the 2001/2002 season as the title role in Anna Karenina at the Madách Theatre, and regularly played the role of Sissy in Elisabeth, one of the most popular plays by the Lévay-Kunze duo. Also this season she appeared in Pécs and Debrecen as Sally Bowles in Cabaret and as Eva in Somewhere in Europe.
In 2003, the Budapest Operetta Theatre also presented Mozart!, in which she reprised her role as Baroness Waldstätten and became a permanent member of the theatre from that year. After the birth of her first child, she returned to the stage in December 2004. At the Operetta Theatre she continued to play Baroness Waldstätten and Capuletne in the highly successful musical Romeo and Juliet. In 2005 she played Madame de la Grande Comodie in Beauty and the Beast. In the same year, she played Christine in the Madách Theatre's production of Once Upon a Time with a Troupe. In 2006, she played Stefania, Rudolf's wife, in the world premiere of the musical Rudolf, the Last Kiss at the Operetta Theatre.

In 2007, she was awarded the Gundel Prize by the professional jury.In 2008, after the birth of her second son, she was given a new role as the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet. In the same season, she played the role of the Narrator in Webber's musical Joseph and the Colourful Wide-Screen Dreamcoat. In 2009, she was cast as the Lady of the Lake in Madách Theatre's humorous production of Spamalot, and from 2010 she will play the mad housekeeper Mrs Danvers in the new production of the Operetta Theatre's Rebecca. In 2010, she will also take on a new role at the Madách Theatre, playing Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. From 2010 to 2020 she will tour regularly in German with the Operetta Theatre's hit Disney musical Beauty and the Beast. From 2011 she will play Natasha in the Madách Theatre's production of Group Therapy, and in 2012 she will play two more roles in the musical theatre: In 2016, she made her debut at the Operetta Theatre in a new role, as Marie Antoinette in the Hungarian premiere of the musical. In the same year, she played the famous magician's wife, Bess, in Houdini, the magical musical. In autumn 2018, she will be seen as Sarolt in the Budapest Operetta Theatre's major production of Stephen the King.
From 2020, she will play the character of Violet in the József Attila Theatre's production of 9 to 5, and in 2021 she will reprise her role as Elisabeth at the Katona József Theatre in Kecskemét.

In 2016, she was one of the contestants of one of the most watched shows in Hungary, Sztárban Sztár season IV, for 8 broadcasts.
From autumn 2019, TV viewers could meet him every night for two seasons in the series "Sample Daddy".

As a singer, she has also enjoyed great success, singing the theme songs of several fairy tales and appearing on several musical CDs. An important milestone in her singing career was when she won M1's Make a Festival in 2008 with her rendition of the world-famous Woman in Love. She and her ex-husband Zsolt Homonnay have released two albums together. The album Ketten was released in 2009 and soon became a gold record. Their second album, entitled Két Herz (Two Hearts), was released in 2010. In 2013, her song "Something else" reached the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest and in 2014 her hit "Scratch" was one of the 30 best songs. In autumn 2021, she released her first solo compilation album, Now and Forever. So far, 5 audiobooks have been released.
