Domonkos Hartmann

Cellist

The cellist Domonkos Hartmann was born in Veszprém, Hungary. He started his career at the Antal Csermák Music School in Veszprém, where he studied with dr. Tamásné Nagy, and continued his studies with Krisztina Kardosné Kemény in Budapest at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music. After passing his finishing exams, he applied to the Vienna Music Academy, and was accepted to the class of cellist István Várdai in 2018. In 2014 he received the Csermák Prize in his hometown, which is awarded to one outstanding student every year. 

Among his achievements during the years of the conservatory, he was awarded first place in the János Starker National Cello Competition and also received the grand prize of the competition, the Éva Czakó Memorial Medal. This was followed by several international prizes,  among others, firstst prize and the Grand Prix of the competition at the Jan Vychytil (pronounced: Vihitil) International Cello Competition in the Czech Republic, first prize at the Talents for Europe International Cello Competition in Slovakia and absolute first prize at the Danubia Talents International Music Competition in Vác.

He has participated in several national and international courses with Camille Thomas, Henry Demarquette, Ditta Rohmann, István Varga, László Fenyő, István Várdai, Stephan Koncz and the Kelemen Quartet. He played with pianist José Gallardo, violists Yuri Zhislin and Lars Ander Tomter. In late January 2019, he made his first public appearance at the Music Academy, where he performed Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B minor to a packed house with the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra. He has also performed with the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra of Veszprém, and next season he will perform Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall at the Palace of Arts in Budapest.

In December, Domonkos won the Popper Cello Competition on the Franz Liszt Music Academy, than in spring of 2022 tavaszán he also won the 17.Lyon International Chamber Music Competition with Domonkos Csabay, as well as they have earned the audience award too.
